The apps have been deemed as malware, despite their overall high review ratings on Google Play.Judy was found on forty-one apps developed by a Korean company Kiniwini, registered on Google Play as ENISTUDIO corp.Hackers developed bridgehead apps that, once downloaded, established a connection with their Command and Control server (C&C).The server replied with payload that included JavaScript code, a user-agent string and URLs that were controlled by the hackers.The Check Point Mobile Research Team noted, "The malware opens the URLs using the user agent that imitates a PC browser in a hidden webpage and receives a redirection to another website.Once the targeted website is launched, the malware uses the JavaScript code to locate and click on banners from the Google ads infrastructure.”Credit: Check Point MobileThe hackers subsequently received payments from the web developers The fake clicks led to quite a decent payment for the hackers.Judy apps also display a large number of advertisements.
