I was, bluntly, interested in the anonymity aspect and wanted to try out silkroad.I bought 100 BTC for an average of $3 a piece.Silkroad didn't work out (surprise!)but over the month I tried, I noticed that my stash had appreciated over 30%.I foolishly got way too excited about it and spent another 5 grand on coins at about $5 a piece, then sat on them.BTC continued appreciating, very quickly, and when the price hit $15 I bought another 500 coins.converter bitcoin para realFor those following along at home, that put my total at 1600 coins for about 13 grand.bitcoin armory miningI was rubbing my hands together gleefully as the price crossed $20 within days.Then $25.And then I got the news that mtgox had been hacked, and coin prices plummeted.Within a day, the value of a bitcoin had fallen to less than 10 cents and if I'm remembering correctly, actually approached zero*.

I don't know for sure.I had to stop watching the markets.I was extremely depressed.Just days before I'd been so astounded by the returns that I'd been considering liquidating other investments and shifting to bitcoin, against all instinct and logic.Now I was out a huge amount of money in exchange for worthless digital bits of information.Thankfully I make enough money that losing 13k, while very painful, did not ruin me.I spent a few weeks wallowing in my own misery.BTC prices recovered significantly but I didn't trust it anymore.I backed up my wallet and didnt think about it again except for the occasional reminder when some random brick & mortar retailer would start accepting bitcoins as payment.Then a month ago, a friend casually mentioned that he'd discovered this cool new thing called Bitcoin and was ecstatic about how much money he could make.My heart sank and I knew I would have to talk to my friend about my experience.I was so ashamed of what I'd done but couldn't in good conscience let someone else fall into the same trap.
