bitcoin faucet strategy

It’s currently been almost 4 months since we launched our first Bitcoin Faucet. The first thing we did was download the Faucet Script (Faucet in a Box) from FaucetBox and installing it in our web servers. We chose THC Servers as our hosting provider since it had a rather good client services an the pricing was ok, but what made us finally choose them was that they accepted BTC for payments. Also, choosing a cool, unique and attractive domain was something we considered very important to position each Bitcoin Faucet with it’s own identity and brand. The first thing we started working was with the design and template the site had, something very important since it would be what our users would mainly experience (besides taking some satoshi’s on the way out).As you can see, throughout time our design for Fullbitcoins has changed considerably in very short time, and not only that but every week we have made minor changes throughout AB testing with actual results and taking note on how these changes would affect the performance of our site. The second thing we started working was with content our Bitcoin faucet would have.

It is our mission to spread out this wonderful technology to everyone in the world, and in order to do that we had to create a great peace of content in order to explain what is Bitcoin, what you can do with it and what is a Bitcoin Faucet. In order to have some money and fulfill this dream of ours, we needed to pay some attention to the monetization of each of our bitcoin faucets. This could be achieved by mainly 2 ways: using display ad networks such as Google, Blockadz, Mellow Ads, etc. to put their code and show banners on your site or by signing up through an account through SolveMedia in order to get paid for each user that completes a captcha.Since the main reason a Bitcoin Faucet owner uses a captcha is to prove that on the other side of the screen there is a actual person and not an evil bot trying to dry up all your Bitcoins (more on that later), it is recommendable to use Solve Media or Recaptcha.I’ve heard that Funcaptcha is also a great alternative and works great fighting off bots, but since they changed their business model from free to a (considerably high) paid service we have completely discarded it.Once we had the design, the code in place correctly and set up our monetization strategy there was only one more thing missing: USERS!So we had to create a strategy to actually get users into our faucets for the first time, and later come back. That’s where we learned the importance of the payout strategy and refferal fee.

Basically the payout strategy is the amount of Satoshi’s you give to users once they complete the site with their Bitcoin Wallet address and complete the captcha to prove that they are actually human. Not only the amount of Satoshi’s is important but also the timeframe in which users can claim again.Internally we discussed: is it better a higher payout with a higher time frame or a lower payout with a lower time frame (i.e.: 600 satoshi’s every 60 minutes vs 100 satoshi’s every 10 minutes).Obviously, as we mentioned before we are data freaks.

bitcoin etf reviewIf your Bitcoin Faucet works out well, meaning that the service doesn’t goes down because your hosting can resist the traffic, the design and name is remembered than users are willing to return very often and are ok with lower timeframes. The other important factor is the referral commission you assign to users.

What this means is that for each visitor that you generate to our faucet, you will recieve a comission for each claim they generate. If you are going to start off with a brand new Bitcoin Faucet, we suggest you get very aggressive in the 25 to 50% range. We started out as 50% and reached out to the most popular Bitcoin Faucet Rotators in order to get our faucets included and generate a lot of traffic. If your Bitcoin Faucet isn’t attractive or is very complicated to navigate, users will generally try it out once and not get back ever again.
